Arnold WILL Run For Governor Again!

Today is the day that every Arnold fan has been preparing for, for months on end. The day that everbody has been fearing, and worrying about. The day that fans have wanted to hear one simple word - yes or no.

Last night , Arnold Schwarzenegger announced that he would indeed be running for re-election as California Governor, in 2006.

Schwarzenegger told a cheering crowd, in San Diego, that he was in it for not just 3 years, but a full 7.

"I'm going to follow through with this here. I'm not in there for three years. I originally got into this... to finish the job. I'm in there for seven years," he told an enthusiastic crowd of about 200 invited guests. "Yes, I will run for Governor."

He urged voters to allow him to "reform the system".

"As I said when you elected me two years ago, there is a massive weight we must lift in our state and alone, I can not lift it," the former bodybuilder said.

The election is due to take place in November 2006

The crowd inside the auditorium applauded, as protesters outside chanted, "Hey hey, ho ho, Schwarzenegger's got to go."

Many people think Schwarzenegger doesn't have as good a chance as being re-elected as he originally did 2 years ago.

"California cannot afford four more years of the Bush-Schwarzenegger agenda," said Phil Angelides, the state treasurer and one of two Democrats who have announced a run for governor.

Schwarzenegger's popularity has declined sharply after clashes with trade unions over controversial reform plans.

His plans to modify the state budget and make it easier to dismiss poorly performing teachers have alienated nurses, police and fire fighters.

Trade unions have responded by spending considerable sums on television commercials seeking to discredit the governor.

A survey last week found only 36% of Californians rated the governor's performance as "positive".

This has not come as a shock to us. We didn't expect Arnold to run for Governor originally, back in 2003, and so we knew not to think that way this time around. As Arnold has said, once he starts a job, he likes to finish it - and his job is not over yet.

We all wanted to see him back on the silver screen, in projects such as True Lies 2, Terminator 4 and King Conan: Crown Of Iron. But that COULD still happen! The re-election is not for another year yet - there's plenty of time for things to happen between now and then.
