Schwarzenegger Museum Terminated!

Our friends at TheArnoldFans.com brought us the following bad news:

The Arnold Schwarzenegger museum, featuring some of the training equipment once used by the bodybuilder-turned-actor-turned-California governor, has now closed.

The museum, which also displayed photos and paintings, was tucked into a corner of a fitness center, at the Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadium in Graz, a southern Austrian city near Schwarzenegger's home village of Thal.

The fitness centre and the museum closed last Wednesday because of financial problems, an administrator said.

Susanne Hoeller, an official at Graz tourism office, confirmed early last week that the museum, inaugurated when Schwarzenegger turned 50 in 1997, was about to close. Though the privately run museum never attracted large crowds, it was a "pity" for the city that its only Schwarzenegger sight was about to vanish, she added.

For now, the future of the collection is unclear. It will be stored away and might one day be put on display again. Who knows where? Perhaps Global Arnold will be able to open a brand new museum, with a guest appearance by Schwarzenegger himself for the grand opening! Remember - the future is not set...!
