The Rock, Linda Hamilton & James Cameron?

Calling all Terminator fans! In the last few days, there's been an avalanche of rumours around the eagerly anticipated Terminator 4, and who will and won't star in it.

First of all, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has spoke out about how he would love to work with Arnold on not just any old movie, but T4!

"You know what. I should never say never. And I'd love to do a movie with Arnold . If the writing's good and he agrees to be in it, I'll do it. In fact, before he became Governor, I was thinking of things we could do together. One of them - and you can't rule this out because one day it might happen - was us playing cops, like the typical thing where you have the older cop who's getting out of the game and the younger cop who's really hip and cool. But I was going to be the bumbling idiot and he was going to be the cool one. You never know, maybe one day…"

Although he'd be open to do a “T4” alongside the Oak, he doesn't feel right carrying it himself.

“…Those movies are his. I'm not saying I'd turn them into stinkers, but they're his”.

So, a possible Arnold/Rock duo for T4? Arnold as the T-850 and The Rock as a newer, more advanced model? Or would he be cast as an existing model, but one that we've never seen portrayed in the movies, such as the rubber skinned T-600? Only time will tell!

Ok, secondly - will Linda Hamilton make a return to the Terminator franchise as the warrior waitress, Sarah Connor, in T4? Although her character was said to have died of leukaemia after the events of T2, it could all have been a trick, and the truth could be that she was really in hiding, before the war!

Movies.Go.Com seem to think that she will!

“This sequel is pure speculation, but since Terminator 3 did make money, don't count out a fourth instalment of the franchise. One thing's for sure, though: Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't involved. Now that he's governor of California , making movies is on the sidelines, though a cameo in this pic is still rumored. There is talk of Nick Stahl and Claire Danes returning, as well as Linda Hamilton, with Arnold himself mentioning Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as a suitable star.”

Don't worry about the 'Arnold isn't involved' and ‘Rock to star' bits. After our first piece of news, we know that The Rock won't touch T4 unless Arnold is there alongside him. So, no Arnold, no Rock! And as we told you on May 8th, it is increasingly likely that Arnold WILL have a part in T4!

Now, to our final piece of news. Hold on to your hats Terminator fans, this could cause a massive stir!

MovieHole.Net spoke with an insider from C2 Pictures, Mario Kassar & Andrew Vajna's movie production company, who produced T3.

After The Rock's comments on T4 earlier this week, the C2 source wanted to keep us on top with what's happening with T4. And T5, as well, it would seem.

'Anonymous' says that "T4 will not be the last Terminator film. In fact, Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna have already signed Jonathan Mostow to write and direct Terminator 4 and will try to woe James Cameron himself for the last film in the Terminator franchise, Terminator 5. Afterall, Mr. Cameron loves a great sequel and Mario and Andy are going to make him an offer he can't refuse".

And is there any truth to the rumours that The Rock may appear in one of them? "The Rock wants to star in Terminator 4 only if Schwarzenegger is in the film."

According to the insider, T4 is pencilled to open in theatres in either 2006 or 2007.

Hang on a minute... Mostow signed to write T4 as well as direct it? What about the supposed other T4 script that is in the works as we speak? The draft with Arnold and the one without him? Mostow can't be writing it, because he's working on his remake of 'Seconds'. So what will happen to that, will it just be terminated and thrown to the trash?

And Cameron to return for T5? Could this really happen? You can bet your bottom dollar that if Cameron has anything to do with any other Terminator movie, it will be in HIS time, under HIS ideas and abilities, and HIS script! He declined to do T3 for many of those reasons, so what makes Kassar and Vajna think that he'd come crawling back for T5? Plus, what would Mostow think of him returning, after everything he did with T3 and a possisble T4?

Cameron bows down to nobody, and I certainly don't see him returning to the Terminator franchise under the present circumstances. But what could this 'offer he can't refuse' that Kassar and Vajna are prepared to offer him be? It all sounds very secretive and business like right now. And of course, it could all just be a rumour, made up to generate some excitement and awareness around the Terminator franchise, so once again we'll have to play the waiting game! But after waiting 12 years for T3, that is something that Terminator fans are good at by now!
