B&R SPECIAL EDITION?!

Holy twisted metal Batman! Could Arnold fans finally be seeing the special edition DVD of Batman & Robin that they've always dreamed of?! Maybe so!

Warer Bros. are refining all of the original four Batman movies and turning them into whacking 2 disc special edition DVD's, in time for the release of their latest caped crusader prject, Batman Begins. According to DarkHorizons.com, the first two movies have been completed and they're now working on the remaining two.

It also seems as though WB have given Joel Schumacer a small budget to shoot some extra seens for Batman Forever. Apparentely, he asked them to recut the movie back to what his original edit resembled. And they rolled over and said yes! Hint hint WB, T3.5!

DarkHorizons.com:

The first two films are finished. Tim Burton re-recorded his commentary tracks with a "guest." Disc One of both will include remastered pictures and sound with commentary. Disc 2 has trailers, TV Spots, vintage footage and a new featurette on the film. The first film also gets a feature length documentary.

Joel recorded commentary tracks for the theatrical edition of 'Batman Forever' along with Batman & Robin. Afterwards Joel decided to ask WB to recut 'Forever' back to something that resembles his original edit. WB agreed and gave him a budget to do so. Joel is currently in Burbank working on some alterations to the film.

It's expected the original version will be there with the new cut to be done with 'seamless branching' technology. The extended cut is expected to run around 2 hrs 35 mins. Schumacher is going to add as much footage as possible back in. Also some of the effects were not finished in the early workprint and they need to be finished and he has been given a small budget to work with for that, all new effects will be digital.

The original Batman is expected to hit shelves in May (just prior to the release of Batman Begins in theaters) and a box set of all four films is planned for October or November, more than likely available to tie in with the release of Begins on DVD.

Well what can we expect for the B&R DVD? Apart from the Joel Schumacer audio commentary, we're not entirely sure yet. There's no official news on what the DVD will contain. But let's hope for some kick ass extras, such as behind the scenes 'making of' documentaries, deleted scenes, photo galleries and more!

We know there's at least one deleted scene from the movie anyway. Thanks to Maurice Huijs (HopeOfTheFuture), and TheArnoldFans.com, we're able to show you a little of that deleted scene!

Maurice also waded through the original screenplay and dug the scen out!

Freeze stands, putting on his suit. He SNAPS his fingers. A legion of Icemen step out of the swirling mists. Freeze lifts his freezing engine.

FREEZE: Bundle up boys. There's a storm coming.
