Schwarzenegger & Tony Blair Team up to fight Global Warming! (And Blair in T4?!)

UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair, and California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, have teamed up to find a way of fighting off Global Warming.

The two leaders announced a pact to bypass the Bush Administration, as they met with business leaders on clean energy and climate issues against the backdrop of a BP oil tanker at a terminal in the Port of Long Beach.

Global warming is "long-term, the single biggest issue we face," Blair said. Schwarzenegger added later in a statement that "California will not wait for our federal government to take strong action on global warming."

The agreement calls for collaboration on research into cleaner-burning fuels and technologies, and looking into the possibility of setting up a system whereby polluters could buy and sell the right to emit greenhouse gases. The idea is to use market forces and market incentives to curb pollution.

"This is an agreement to share ideas and information. It is not a treaty," said Schwarzenegger spokesman Adam Mendelsohn. "Right now, all we are doing is talking about sharing ideas."

The Blair-inator?

Schwarzenegger reportedly promised to secure Tony Blair a part in a potential Terminator sequel.

Arnold, who starred in the original three movies as the unstoppable cyborg assassin, is concerned the British Prime Minister may struggle finding jobs after his term in office ends.

Speaking after a global warming discussion with Blair and industry leaders in Long Beach, California, yesterday, the Austrian-born star suggested, "Maybe head of the UN, maybe something that is a step up. Who knows what it is because it is a big job that he has right now.

"I think whatever job he wants he will get because he's got such a good success rate at home and he's done such a remarkable job in Europe and England and in the world as a leader.

"If he wants a job in Hollywood I could get him to play Terminator 4."

Blair, who is expected to stand down as Prime Minister before the next British elections by 2010, says, "That's definitely the best offer I've had."

"Actually, the sad thing is, it's the only offer I've had."

iPod

The Governor also handed Blair an all-new 60GB black video iPod as a souvenir of the trip yesterday, reports SF Gate. The music player was pre-loaded with 160 songs about California.

The iPod also included the song the current UK prime minister admits to be his favourite, Tarrega's 'Recuerdos de la Alhambra'. The iPod was inscribed: "Presented to the Right Honorable Tony Blair, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of California."

March, Blair admitted "he is not always in control" of his existing iPod, adding: "My daughter Kathryn does all the songs, I'm not very good with the technology, I'm not very good with any aspect of it."
